Our Business: 
Lebara is a telecommunications company providing services using the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) business model to customers in the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, France and Denmark. Additionally, Lebara has license agreements for the use of the brand in further four global markets Spain, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Australia with Nigeria launching soon. 

Lebara was founded in 2001 with the intent to bring something new to the telecoms industry. Created by three entrepreneurs who migrated to Europe from Sri Lanka, the company name was formed from a combination of the founders’ surnames, and Lebara quickly became one of the fastest-growing MVNOs in Europe.

Lebara became private equity owned in 2017 and our current owners Waterland acquired the business in Nov 2024. Lebara is a business on a transformation journey which has and continues to achieve results and under our new ownership the business is moving from a consolidation phase to a growth phase.

Lebara’s business has evolved based on its customers’ needs, from providing international calls to the migrant community, to becoming a significant value challenger within the wider telecoms category. Lebara offers prepaid and SIM-only mobile tariffs, and in 2017, Lebara launched its first postpaid monthly contract SIMs in the Netherlands. Lebara operates under the Full MVNO model in France and Germany and Light MVNO model in its other markets with the UK and the Netherlands preparing to move to full MVNO.

Role Purpose: 
Provide technical leadership in delivering end to end solutions for Lebara’s digital initiatives as we venture into offering more and more services for consumers across multiple digital channels. Ensuring the current implementation of our digital solutions are in-line with industry best practices and standards. Drive improvements in the current design, processes & implementation to improve operational management, scalability, and extensibility.
Responsibilities: 
Strategic Leadership & Delivery Oversight 
• Lead multiple cross-functional Agile teams, ensuring consistent delivery of high-impact digital products and features aligned with business objectives.
• Establish clear performance metrics to monitor team velocity, throughput, and quality, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivery efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to ensure sprint goals are met, dependencies are managed, and teams remain aligned with overall product and architecture strategy.
Technical Oversight & Architectural Alignment 
• Actively participate in enterprise architecture planning; ensure team deliverables align with long-term platform strategies and technical roadmaps.
• Advocate for engineering best practices, design patterns, and modern software development methodologies including DevOps, CI/CD, and built-in quality.
• Identify and implement AI use cases to enhance team productivity through automation of business processes, and personalized customer experiences.
Agile Governance & Process Improvement 
• Drive Agile maturity within teams and across the organization, champion SAFe or other Agile frameworks for scalability and operational efficiency.
• Own and maintain agile artefacts and documentation ensuring transparency, traceability, and knowledge sharing.
Stakeholder & Partner Engagement 
•Serve as the primary liaison between development teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity of priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
• Evaluate and onboard external development partners or consultants, ensuring technical alignment and cultural fit.
Innovation & Product Strategy 
• Contribute to product vision, release planning, and feature prioritization by bringing technical insight into design discussions.
• Analyse user feedback, performance metrics, and usage data to recommend enhancements that maximize business impact.
Continuous Learning & Team Growth 
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability.

Skills & Experience: 
Experience & Expertise 
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven success in managing web and mobile platform delivery, preferably with experience in CMS-based ecosystems like AEM.
  • Strong background in modern web technologies (e.g., React/React Native, Node.js) and system architecture.
  • Experience with AI/ML initiatives.
Technical Leadership 
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools and practices.
  • Strong grasp of system design for scalability, testability, and security.
  • Experience implementing Agile at scale (e.g., SAFe), with a track record of improving team agility and velocity.
Soft Skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Self-starter with a strategic mindset, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
