Release Train Engineer

London, 3 days per week in the office

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organise, and facilitate PI Planning sessions, ART Syncs, PI retrospectives, and other SAFe ceremonies to ensure alignment and commitment.
  • Drive KPI tracking and reporting to provide full visibility of ART progress, performance, and value delivery to senior stakeholders.
  • Lead backlog refinement and prioritisation sessions with Product Owners, ensuring sprint and PI objectives are clear and achievable.
  • Track and resolve cross-team and cross-train dependencies, escalating risks and blockers as appropriate.
  • Facilitate Solution Forum calls with country teams, ensuring scope alignment and proactive risk management.
  • Work closely with Solution Architects on design review sessions (HLD/LLD) to align technical solutions with business priorities.
  • Coordinate daily Product Owner sync calls to ensure delivery progress, sprint priorities, and blockers are addressed proactively.
  • Support Scrum ceremonies across teams where needed, ensuring consistent adoption of SAFe practices.
  • Ensure alignment between Product, Architecture, and Delivery teams for smooth execution of strategic initiatives.

Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or Release Train Engineer in a scaled Agile environment (SAFe preferred).
  • Deep understanding of Agile frameworks, SAFe principles, and PI execution.
  • Hands-on expertise with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and reporting dashboards for delivery tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing dependencies and risks across multiple teams and Agile Release Trains.
  • Prior experience in telecom programs or large-scale transformation initiatives strongly preferred.
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification or equivalent Agile/Scaled Agile certifications preferred.
  • Background in data, digital transformation, business analysis, or product ownership advantageous.
  • Quality of PI Planning and execution measured through stakeholder feedback and delivery predictability.
  • Transparency and consistency of reporting and KPI tracking across the Agile Release Train.
  • Effectiveness of collaboration across Product, Architecture, and Delivery functions.
  • Demonstrable improvements from retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills; comfortable engaging with business, technical, and executive stakeholders.
  • Structured and organised, able to manage competing priorities and drive outcomes under pressure.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, fostering alignment and trust across multi-country, cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a hands-on mentality and a continuous improvement mind set.
